What is Resting Wrist Hand Orthosis (Stock)?

Construction varies dependent upon the make. Can be a thermoplastic shell encompassing the palmar (front) aspect of the wrist, hand and forearm or a malleable (mouldable) frame covered with a soft material layer. Regardless of type, the Orthosis is secured with velcro fastening.

What does it do?

When applied, it positions the wrist hand and fingers in a neutral resting position and prevents contractures (tightness) of the soft tissues on the palmar (front) aspect of the wrist and hand. Those with a malleable frame can be adjusted to accommodate a position which is not in neutral alignment.
