What is Hip Abduction Brace?

A thermoplastic shell or band which fits around the pelvis/waist area and a thermoplastic thigh shell (right or left dependent on the affected side). Both have a soft lining and are secured with velcro straps. The waist and thigh sections are linked with a metal strut which has an adjustable joint at the hip.

What does it do?

With the joint correctly adjusted, the brace restricts movements which are associated with hip dislocation and provides stability for the joint.
