We are seeking a Workshop Manager to join our established team in Manchester.
Opcare has been providing a Prosthetics and Orthotics service to patients in Manchester for over 10 years. The service works alongside the NHS at the Specialised Ability Centre in Manchester.
This role will be instrumental in helping to deliver high quality artificial limbs to our patients, working alongside our wider team of Prosthetists, Orthotists, Occupational Therapists and Consutants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Technicians and lead by example to create a productive efficient team environment.
- To oversee the preparation and assembly / building of medical devices as required by the Prosthetist according to the requirements of the Prescription or Works Order.
- To ensure prostheses issued to patients are functioning satisfactorily and provided in a timely manner.
- Ensuring correct materials / components are ordered and issued for the job and that appropriate tools are available.
- To liaise with key clinical stakeholders to address identified quality problems and assist in providing effective solutions, thus minimising unnecessary wastage and delay.
- Identify realistic timescales for the completion of jobs given out, to ensure efficient and optimal running of the facility.
- Oversee and manage the Health and Safety for the Workshop reporting to the Operations Manager where appropriate to ensure improvements are made as required.

- Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently and work with multiple conflicting
- Robust judgement and ability to make sound decisions quickly and effectively in complex situations.
Desirable:
- Technical understanding of medical device function.
- Good hand skills.
