Internal Vacancy – Senior Orthotist – NHNN, London

Orthotic Clinical Services (OCS) is pleased to offer an exciting internal opportunity for an experienced Orthotist looking to progress into a Senior Orthotist role.

This post has been created to strengthen senior clinical leadership across the OCS service while supporting the continued development of our specialist neurological service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN). The successful candidate will divide their clinical time between the NHNN specialist neurology service and the wider OCS service, providing expert clinical care, leadership, and support across both services.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Orthotist working at the top of their current band who has developed the clinical expertise, leadership qualities, and professional competencies required to take the next step in their career.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide highly specialised orthotic care within one of the UK’s leading neuroscience centres whilst also supporting the wider OCS service through clinical leadership, service development and mentorship.

Working as part of multidisciplinary teams, you will manage a complex neurological caseload and contribute to the ongoing development of specialist orthotic services. You will play an active role in service improvement initiatives, support less experienced clinicians, and help maintain the high clinical standards expected across OCS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert assessment, prescription, fitting and review of complex orthotic interventions.
  • Manage a specialist neurological caseload within the NHNN.
  • Provide senior clinical leadership across both NHNN and the wider OCS service.
  • Support, supervise and mentor junior Orthotists and students.
  • Lead and contribute to clinical audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient-centred care.
  • Promote evidence-based practice and innovation within orthotic services.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with HCPC and Trust standards.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical pathways and best practice across the service.

 

Person Specification

Applicants should demonstrate:

Essential

  • BSc (Hons) Orthotics, HND Orthotics or Certified Orthotist qualification.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Significant post-registration clinical experience.
  • Currently working at, or performing consistently at, the highest level of their current Orthotist band.
  • Demonstrable experience managing complex clinical caseloads.
  • Excellent multidisciplinary working and communication skills.
  • Evidence of leadership, mentoring or supervision of colleagues.
  • Commitment to service development and continuous quality improvement.

Desirable

  • Membership of BAPO.
  • Experience within neurological rehabilitation or complex orthotics.
  • Experience participating in service improvement, audit or research projects.
