We are looking to appoint a Prosthetics and Orthotics Workshop Lead to provide leadership to the technical team in Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton, London.
The lead will be a key member of the management team of the prosthetic and orthotic services and will manage the workshop environment in Roehampton for the fabrication, repair and maintenance of medical devices for our patients.
This is a key central role that ensures all manufacturing is dealt with efficiently and accurately and that all systems are up to date and maintained at all times.

Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Workshop Lead/Manager to oversee the workshop environment in Roehampton for the fabrication, repair and maintenance of medical devices for our patients.
This is a key central role that ensures all manufacturing is dealt with efficiently and accurately and that all systems are up to date and maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will have responsibility for:
- Overseeing the preparation and assembly / building of medical devices as required by the clinical team in Roehampton according to the requirements of the Prescription or Works Order.
- To ensure prostheses or orthoses issued to patients are functioning satisfactorily and provided in a timely manner, in line with NHS England KPI’s and internal Opcare KPI’s.
- Ensuring correct materials / components are ordered and issued for the job and that appropriate tools are available.
- To liaise with key clinical stakeholders to address identified quality problems and assist in providing effective solutions, thus minimizing unnecessary wastage and delay.
- Work with Senior Technicians to assist in the training and development of newly recruited technicians and develop multi-skilling within the workshop as identified with Technicians, the Centre Manager and Clinical Lead Prosthetist
- Where appropriate use the current I.T. system in accordance with identified procedures.
- Identify and implement improvements to local procedures where necessary
Qualifications:
- Understanding of the processes employed in the manufacture of prosthetic and orthotic devices
- Management qualification is desirable, although not essential
